Be Mate Trafalgar

Be Mate is the apartment brand from the Room Mate hotel group, and its Trafalgar address hits Chamberí's sweet spot: the plaza-and-café blocks between Bilbao and Quevedo where the barrio's daily life actually happens. Kitchens, in-unit washers, and a gym, at ~$119, the most amenity per dollar anywhere in our Madrid set.
The record is young (83 reviews, 9.4) but the brand behind it isn't, which takes most of the early-book risk off the table. For living-like-a-local trips, Chamberí's whole pitch, this is where we'd point almost everyone first.
Trafalgar is the corner of Chamberí that never lands on a first-timer's map, which is precisely its appeal: neighborhood markets, terrazas that fill with Madrileños instead of tour groups, and the genuine feel of living somewhere rather than visiting it. Budget a few extra minutes to the tourist core in return, though the Bilbao and Iglesia metro stops keep the center a short, direct ride down Line 1.
- ✓ Maximum apartment-per-dollar is the assignment
- ✓ A gym plus in-unit laundry seals week-long stays
- ✓ You want the Bilbao-Quevedo café orbit at your door
- ✗ You want a long review history (Slow Suites Luchana below)
- ✗ Hotel services like a restaurant matter (Líbere has one)
- ✗ You need maximum metro convenience to tourist Madrid; Chamberí trades a little of that for calm
Be Mate Trafalgar typically runs ≈ $119 / night (July). Live rates and availability are on Expedia.
